As we both grew up in Asia and Sean proposed in Thailand, Phuket seemed like a great choice to get married. We always knew we wanted to get married outdoors somewhere sunny by the beach.

Sava villas stood out as a venue straight away: it was so beautiful, right on the beach and completely private. It was amazing to have our family and my bridesmaids all staying together in such a stunning place.

We had a pretty epic day out on a boat the day before the wedding – we took all our guests to a private beach where a big BBQ picnic was set up. It was a great start to the wedding festivities!

I wanted the tables, which were named after our favourite places, to look very tasteful and romantic – there were lots of beautiful white flowers in vases, candles & petals scattered across the table.

My mother in law did an amazing job with the wedding favours and made special recovery kits for all the guests.  They included a bottle of water, redbull, painkillers, hydration sachets, mints and a pretty handmade bracelet for all the girls.

The fireworks, signature cocktails, dessert buffet, candy table, photo booth and noodle stand were some of our favourite extras. The most important thing was making sure all our friends and family had a great time.

Having a wedding planner definitely helped: I really didn’t let myself stress about anything and just enjoyed the day without worrying about a thing.

My top tip: I would definitely recommend planning something the next day so it’s not all over so soon!
