And by movie, we mean a romantic epic. To pop the question, Zaid arranged a trip to New York City and got down on one knee at the ice-skating rink in Central Park.

Oh, and let’s not forget that it was Christmas Eve. “It was pretty impressive,” says Hilary. “I cried like a baby!” With a love of travel – the couple were and still are living in Bermuda – it was an easy decision for Hilary and Zaid to have a destination wedding. But planning their Thai nuptials from a different hemisphere was always going to be tricky, admits Hilary. “The most challenging part was finding someone we could trust enough to be our wedding planner. We found a lot of not-so-impressive planners but when we found Jeanette [from Luxury Events Phuket], we knew everything was going to be great!”

Hilary walked down the aisle to the Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun”, and Zaid and his groomsmen had a chance to cut shapes too. “Our wedding planner suggested the groom walk in to a fun song to create a light-hearted mood, so the boys walked in to ‘Beware of the Boys’ by Panjabi MC and Jay Z!” The pair exchanged nuptials on a platform over the pool at their private villa. At the sit-down reception, the bridesmaids showed off their musical talents by rapping their speech to the theme of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
